Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The E-Class Coupe debuts with five models: three gasoline and two diesels. The 204-horsepower four-cylinder E 250 CGI and 292-horse V6 E 350 CGI gasoline engines feature direct-injection fuel delivery that improves fuel economy by up to 14 percent over the outgoing CLK. V8 power comes in the form of the E 500 and a bell-ringing 388 horsepower. An AMG version is expected to bow later in the year. On the diesel side, the E 250 CDI features an all-new twin-turbo four-cylinder with common-rail injection. Horsepower is the same as the gasoline four-cylinder, but torque is up to 500 Nm, an improvement of almost 200 Nm over the E 250 CGI. The turbocharged common-rail V6 is also still available, in the E 350 CDI.

Here comes the E-Class Coupe as will be seen when its takes its first public bow at the Geneva motor show next month.
The E-Class Coupe is meant to replace the discontinued CLK, so Mercedes has a lot riding on the success of this model.
With the new design, Mercedes says the E-Class will be the "world's most aerodynamically efficient series-production car." That's a bold claim to make but one can see in the newly acquired sleekness of the body that things have changed. This Coupe, in its slight form with no B-pillars and completely retractable side windows, creates a drag coefficient of just 0.24.

The E-Class has grown in size, length and width for more comfort and interior space. Safety has been a paramount consideration of course and we see that in the new impact absorbing bonnet that pops up 5cm to lessen injury to cyclists or pedestrians in a low speed collision. There's also a system that recognises potential collisions and warns through the driver's pedal that it's time to brake .Existing technologies for Mercedes like Night Vision are to be found, and new ones such as blind spot and lane departure warning. New generation diesels 200 CDI, 220 CDI and 250 CDI give the frugal potential owners plenty of choice while the 300 CDI and 350 BlueTec come into play higher up. We know there are petrol variants too including the formidable
E-Class AMG which should touch the 600bhp/ 450kW mark.
